Resources for Students
The New School’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) has been proactive in reaching out to and supporting students from countries included in Presidential Executive Orders regarding travel. An immigration attorney was provided for consultations. Students have participated in Optional Practical Training workshops, immigration seminars, tax return sessions, and employment workshops. ISSS is sending students four electronic forms: Reduced Course Load, I-20 Extension, Letter Request, and Leave of Absence to facilitate those processes. Student advising is working to ensure international students are registered for fall courses before leaving at the end of the semester and areas in Student Success are collaborating to ensure all students are supported.
In addition, there are numerous resources for students provided by various non-profit organizations dedicated to one or more populations and issues that may be impacted by the new US administration and ongoing executive action. Below are some. Please submit others or refer to the Social Justice Committee Learning Portfolio to view what others have submitted and add your own.
