Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is a field of research that recognizes teaching and learning as serious intellectual work. The International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is one of the main professional organizations promoting this type of research. This half-hour video by Dr. Matthew A. Fisher at Saint Vincent University offers an introduction on how to conduct research in teaching and learning.

The Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning has developed an excellent guide to the practice of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Confer with the New School’s Human Research Protection Program staff ,or the chair of the Institutional Review Board for clarification on whether your project will require IRB approval for research in human subjects.
